To any prospective home purchaser:

I just wanted to take a moment to express my sincere recommendation of John Kolcun as a Realtor. 

My wife and I started planning to purchase our first home around a year ago and had met with a Mortgage Company to come up with a plan to get us financially in a position to purchase the type of house that we were interested in.  When the process started we spent some time on Hilton Head MLS just generally searching what was out there in the market.  I had met John through my profession a while back and one day when I was out on the Golf Course had mentioned to him that my wife and I were interested in purchasing a home in the next year or so.  Living in Hilton Head I was very careful about who I would mention that to….if you live here you know what I am talking about because everybody knows a realtor and wants to help them out with getting a sale in a tough economy.  So, when I say that I was careful about whom I would say that to it was for two reasons.  The first being that we were not where we needed to be to purchase right away and did not want to have a realtor who was going to pressure us to purchase until we were in a position financially to purchase a house that fitted our needs and moreover one that we were going to enjoy living in.  Second, we wanted a realtor who was going to listen to us and help us find that home rather than just rushing us into the next “best deal”.  We really were looking for a realtor whose main goal and intention was not just to get a check, but one whose real enjoyment came from the fact that they were able to find us the home that suited our needs and that we would be happy living in…a match maker so to say. 

With that being said I have to tell you that John turned out to be exactly what we were looking for.  He knew that it was not going to be an instant sell for him, but still took the time to meet with us, listen to what we were looking for and gave us an idea of where to look and what type of price range we were looking at.  He didn’t just start sending us listings, rather asked if we would like to receive occasional updates with different options that fit the bill for what we were looking for.  As months went by and we had put ourselves into a position where we were ready to purchase, John was fantastic.  He was willing to show us property into the night and enjoyed the quest of finding us that perfect home for us.  When we were ready to make an offer he also did everything he could to ensure that there were no “surprises” and that we new exactly we were getting into…he never rushed us – he waited until the fit was right.  If you are looking for a realtor I would highly recommend John Kolcun.  He is someone who understands that being a Realtor is more than just making a sale – it is about pairing people with a home that they are truly going to enjoy for years to come.  He genuinely cared about us as people and we are very grateful (and feel very lucky!) to have worked with him during the whole process.
